Folk tales for families. A relaxed performance by members of the Plough Storytelling Circle, specially tailored for younger audiences.
We took our suitcases and travelled through forests, across rivers, beyond mountains, and across the sky in the sun god’s chariot. We met a brave bunny, a hot air ballooning cat, found out why a bean has a seam and tried to work out a riddle along the way. It certainly was an exciting journey!
An audience spanning the ages listened to the stories, ate their lunch, joined in when asked, and all in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The tellers – some of whom were telling in public for the first time – relished the opportunity to try out their skills and appear to have enjoyed the experience enormously once the nerves had settled!
The Plough Storytelling Circle meets every month at St Anne’s to tell and listen to tales told in the time-honoured way – from memory. Folk tales, mythology, traditional stories, even a few historical and personal anecdotes. A friendly and supportive environment in which to hone your skills. Or just to listen.

“My granddaughter sat absorbing every word. It was delightful then and again when she retold me the story.”
“I didn’t think my child would sit and just listen, but they were captivated!”
